BY PANTHER SYSTEMS
The Panther Systems Contact Caliper Sensor is a two-sided, contacting gauge, using a proven eddy current design to monitor virtually numerous product grades in web or sheet form. This sensor is used by extensively by paperboard and other specialty paper manufacturers. This sensor may be used in applications, when the web or sheet is free of metals.
The Contact Caliper Sensor offers manufacturers an accurate thickness measuring solution with an extremely low cost of ownership, minimal maintenance and exceptional longevity.
Caliper measurement is based on the principle of eddy current formation to sense displacement. Currents form when the changing or moving magnetic field and conductor intersect. Relative motion causes the flow of electrons to circulate within the conductor. Panther’s Contact Caliper Sensor detects the formation of secondary eddy fields to measure the distance between the emitter and the reflector touching the opposite surface of the web. This gauge measures caliper continuously with precision.
